Haute Couture


Couture fashion is the most deluxe style in the fashion industry. It has been the high class of France since 19th century. The King of couture, Charles Frederick Worth found Couture fashion, the man who made it impossible for ladies to turn up to a social event in the same outfits. Its the most expensive sophisticated originator off piece fashion. 





To be a couture brand you have to reach the requirements of the French Ministry of Industry (de la couture) as well as expected to have taken part in the full workshop in Paris. It is desired by the fashion world the unique hand made designs with rich fabrics and elegant embellishment. 






Some pieces of couture make very little profit in fact many of them lose money and end up having to close down, the course for this may be that some pieces of couture take up to 700 hours to make, with a minimum of 20 people working on it at a time. However this provides the flawless and unique designs with over 2000 seamstresses working on one piece. 



These garments can cost between £16,000 - £20,000 a piece which gives couture fashion such a high end target market classy, sophisticated and elegant. Brands such as Chanel, Christian Dior, Ellie Saab, Jean Paul Gaultier and Givenchy.






These creations have a very explicit to their target audience due to its price field. Couture fashion is made to measure by hand and rare fabrics and priceless embellishment are used, theses clothes are valued over years. This leads to the clothes being unique and painstakingly flawless.
