What is it all about?

The creative economy is a very affective industry, it focuses on people within a job role. The system thrives of employee talents, skills, strengths and individuality. This is why the industry seeks ambitious people with a high employment rate, wether working for somebody or building their own business/free lancing.



The creative economy contains different sector within the industry - media, photography, music, film and gallery. A huge distraction is due to the internet, online shopping has become too big within the fashion industry it has interrupted the experience of creative economy, alternatively people are coming across online as a fast way of shopping.



As a whole the industry in 2014 has brought in £714 billion to the UK economy, £26 billion of this is from the fashion industry which is estimated £8 million per hour. With a growth of 15.6% since 2008, 5.6% of those employed in the UK (1.6 million jobs).
Employability rates have increased by 8.6% between 2011-2012 compared to the 0.7% for the whole of UK economy. Exports by the creative industries were £15.5 billion in 2011, 8% of which was UK service exports. Between 2009 and 2011, exports from the Creative industries increased by 16.1% this compares with a increase of 11.5% for total UK service exports

Creative Industries



1. Originators - the creative economy produces one off something that is not repeated. Haute couture one of a kind designs, a dress is made consuming up to 700 hours, very in-depth and only one style is created. Economy starts with its original creation(who are they?) e.g- Fine Art, Craft, Museums, Cultural experiences, Archon houses

2. Experience creators - the creating economy demand of an experience somewhere you can visit, see or be apart of. Encountering the way a business works, it is more powerful and exhilarating (for life experiences) e.g - Theatre, Gallery, Live Music, Shopping, Opera, Sports, Internet

3. Content producers - the creating economy increases its publicity and finance. Film and adverts are promoting a brand which helps money for the economy. Producing a substance, advertising its creativity make the consumer want what they see.(big money market) e.g- Fashion, Writing, Film, Music Recording
