The key to the Industry is making contacts putting yourself out there, arranging internships before you graduate. This will give you a better insight on how to tackle the industry and its expectations. Making sure whatever profession you go into you know what you want? hows it going to help you? and what could help guide you down the right path? 

Networking:

Throughout your work experience and time at university you are likely to be introduced to people working for agencies so take this as an opportunity to make connections. Make eye contact say "Hello", talk to everyone build a team effort. "Make the most of the people you meet, their advice is invaluable"


A good starting point would be to follow agencies on social networking sites such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Linkedin to keep up to speed with what there up to and spot the opportunities that make come up that may suit you. Teamwork!

First Impressions/Portfolio:

Making the best first impression, never be late make sure you've search the location and planned your journey and no where your going. This very important going into the Fashion Industry, they wont accept lateness, fashion is a fast moving trade and they wont wait for you. The first thing they want to see is your portfolio focusing on your capability and strengths. 



Before packing up your portfolio make sure you have done enough research on the company first, creative designer are only interested in your best piece of work, the mistake most students make is packing there portfolio with the wrong stuff, make sure you know what your talking about this is important in any profession and building your work from the company perspective will help produce a stunning portfolio.


Getting yourself noticed:

The Fashion Industry has a strong mixture of personality and competitors, so show interest in their work ask questions about the job at hand this will supply you with more knowledge and help you to start getting involved. Any first day can be really daunting but remember you have been chosen into the team so show the agency what your made of and soon you'll begin to feel more comfortable. Give your time to the agency and they will give you theirs back, talk to everyone get along with them this will supply you with more contacts which will widen your chances of further employment.

The industry is looking for enthusiasm, somebody who wont hesitate to get stuck in and willing to go beyond there call of duty,this will show your reliability and energy. The industry want to see the creative side to your personality, your positive attitude, strong ideas and craftsmanship.
